Yelp NFC Card: How to Use It Within Yelp’s Rules

Yelp matters most in the United States, Canada and some other countries. If your business has customers there, or you run a Pakistani restaurant or shop abroad, a Yelp NFC card can help. But Yelp has stricter rules than Google, so it is worth understanding them first.

Yelp’s rule on asking for reviews

Yelp has long advised businesses not to ask customers for reviews. Its recommendation software tends to favour reviews from regular Yelp users who found you on their own, and it may filter reviews that look solicited. So if you ask for reviews aggressively, they may not even show up.

That is why our Yelp card is a “Find us on Yelp” card, not a “Review us” card. It opens your Yelp business page. What visitors do next is up to them.

What the card is good for

Helping people find your page, where they can see photos, hours and existing reviews.
Letting customers check in or save your business.
Sharing your page with friends.
Building your presence without directly asking for a review.

Who should buy one

Pakistani restaurants and shops abroad, where Yelp is popular.
Businesses serving tourists from the US and Canada.
Businesses that already have a Yelp page with photos and information.

If your customers are in Pakistan, a Google review card is usually a better fit, since Google Maps is where they search.

Get your page ready first

Before you place any cards, make sure that:

your business page is claimed,
opening hours, address and phone number are correct,
there are good photos,
you reply politely to existing reviews.

At the counter next to the card machine.
On the menu.
In takeaway bags.
