What Is an NFC Review Card? How It Works

An NFC review card is a card with a small NFC chip inside that opens a link, usually your Google review page, when a customer holds their phone near it. There is no app to install and nothing to type. In Pakistan, NFC review cards cost Rs 399 each wholesale (minimum order per product), and a business pays once with no monthly fee.

Key facts

  • What it does: opens one link on any NFC phone, for example your Google review form, Instagram profile or WhatsApp chat.
  • Chip: an NTAG215 (504 bytes) in our cards and standees, and an NTAG213 (144 bytes) in our desk plate and coin.
  • Phones: iPhone XS and newer, and NFC-enabled Android phones. A QR code on the card covers phones without NFC.
  • Price in Pakistan: Rs 399 per review card, Rs 799 for a standee or desk plate, Rs 499 for a review coin, sold wholesale with a minimum order of 20. See the full price list.
  • Running cost: none. The card has no battery, no subscription and no app.
  • Delivery: all over Pakistan for a flat Rs 149, with cash on delivery.

How an NFC review card works

  1. Your link is written onto the chip. We program your Google review link, or any other link, before dispatch and test it on a phone.
  2. The customer taps. They hold their phone near the card. NFC works over a few centimetres, so there is no pairing and no setting up.
  3. Your page opens. The phone reads the link and opens it. For Google, the review form opens with the stars ready to tap.

If a customer’s phone has no NFC, they scan the QR code printed on the card and reach the same page.

What is inside the card

The chip is a passive NFC tag. It has no battery: it is powered by the phone’s signal when they touch, so there is nothing to charge or replace.

  • NTAG213 holds about 144 bytes, enough for one web link of around 130 characters.
  • NTAG215 holds 504 bytes, enough for a longer link or a small contact record.

Who uses NFC review cards

Businesses that serve people face to face and depend on local reputation: restaurants and cafés, salons and spas, clinics and dentists, hotels and guest houses, shops and showrooms, gyms, car dealers and service companies. More recent reviews and a higher rating help a business appear higher on Google Maps and win the customer who is choosing between three places.

Is it allowed to ask for reviews?

Yes. Google allows businesses to ask customers for reviews. It does not allow offering rewards or discounts in exchange for reviews, or asking only the customers you expect to be happy. Read can you ask customers for Google reviews.

NFC review card or QR code?

A QR code needs the customer to open the camera, aim and tap a link. An NFC card needs one tap. Our cards, standees and plates have both, so nobody is left out: see NFC vs QR code for reviews.
